Shahwilayat Educational Trust, a welfare organization was created with Anjuman Sadat-e-Amroha as the settler, in 1981. The members of the Anjuman belong to the Syed community who migrated to Pakistan from a city of Amroha, UP, India. Most of the Sadaat-e-Amroha are descendent of a 14th century sufi saint Syed Sharafuddin Shahwilayat who settled in Amroha. He was son-in-law, nephew and mentor of great saint Makhdoom Jalaluddin ‘Surkh Posh’ Bukhari of Uchh Sharif (Multan). The Trust was therefore named after Shah Sharfuddin Shahwilatyat, The members of the community made positive contribution for promotion of educational, social and cultural traditions. Besides they remained dedicated to the concept of socio-economic uplift of the society through education.
Fired by the patriotic passion to promote excellence in education, the 26 members of the Anjuman – men and women of modest financial means but an extraordinary fervor for social service – collected the initial contributions for acquiring the one 5000 sq. yds. land in Block-13, Federal ‘B’ area, Karachi, adjacent to Markaz Saddat-e-Amroha, allotted by the Karachi Development Authority for establishing a school.
A dream comes true
It was on this very piece of land, on a beautiful Thursday morning, on April 4, 1985, (13th Rajab, 1405 AH) that Brigadier Syed Mohammad Baqar Naqvi laid the foundation stone of Shahwilayat Public School. The dedicated and committed team of Trustees, with the cooperation of generous philanthropists succeeded in rising of a state of the art, ground plus two floor school building within five years and enabled the Trust to inaugurate School classes up to class V in 1990. In the subsequent years another floor was added and facilities of well stocked large library, a 200 seat air-conditioned auditorium, a gymnasium and other ancillaries were provided to the students. The school compound has a large play area, with covered area of 55,876 square feet.
The Trust cannot forget the services of our late Trustee and a renowned architecture Mr. Sibtain Sadiq Naqvi, of a leading architecture Naqvi & Siddiqui , Associates (the proud designers of numerous national and international buildings and monuments), voluntarily lent his valuable time along with his designing & planning expertise for the successful realization of this dream.
Shahwilayat Public School is a living testament to the famous adage, `Where there`s a will there`s a way`. The building, constructed with a meager sum of Rs. 19,898,395, is a monument to the commitment of trustees to make the most efficient use of meager finances through exemplary dedication. What they lacked in material means was more than compensated by the voluntary intellectual, physical, and professional faculties of the sponsor community. The trustees are heavily indebted to all the selfless donors and supporters who made this feat possible.
The main objective is to set up model schools, in middle class areas and to provide quality education keeping a balance between academic excellence and character building at an affordable cost.
Trust aims to inculcate high social and cultural values among the students of its institutions. It endeavours to produce professionally sound and morally strong individuals capable of becoming responsible citizens.
